The K-SRDTM Device
The Knee Stress Release Device (K-SRDTM) is a powered assistive device incorporating the Dermoskeleton technology developed by B-TEMIA Inc. It is a complete computer-controlled lower extremity motorized orthosis that counteract overstress on the lower back and legs.

Its lightweight and flexible design can be easily sized and integrated with most uniform or clothing and individual equipment systems.

Operational Principles
B-TEMIA’s K-SRDTM Dermoskeleton system is a robotized mechanical structure which generates additional biomechanical energy on the lower extremities. The controller box contains sensors that supply information about the kinematics and the kinetics of the user’s lower extremities and includes software that recognizes the user’s mobility intentions. The system is powered by a lithium-polymer battery.

The leg brace assembly is mainly comprised of the actuator, the electronic boards, hip joint, and contact areas with soft goods. The belt comes in various sizes adapted to each wearer. The K-SRDTM does not initiate any movement but waits for the user’s lead. Once the user makes the first move, the K-SRDTM assists according to the activity.

Following the instructions of the user manual, and after minimal supervised training (i.e., 90 minutes), individuals can safely and effectively use the K-SRDTM.
